Absolutely. Casa do Adro welcomes intimate celebrations including micro weddings and elopements, as well as larger destination wedding events. We can tailor the experience to your guest count and vision.
Micro weddings (with up to 30-35 persons) & elopements usually take place during weekdays.
Does Casa do Adro have bedrooms for guests?
Casa do Adro offers no on-site accommodation options, but works together with partner hotels nearby. We offer 4 Star hotels or more nature experiences. Our partner hotels come with a promo code and a Casa do Adro discount. Very easy to book and with the best conditions for you and your guests.
Where are the nearest hotels for wedding guests?
Several hotels, guesthouses and accommodation options are located near Casa do Adro in Sardoal and surrounding areas, allowing guests to stay comfortably close to the venue. If you all want to stay together, we recommend to stay in one of our partner hotels in Tomar or Gaviao.
Do you offer wedding planning services?

Do you work with trusted Portuguese wedding vendors?
Yes. We collaborate with some of the best Portuguese wedding vendors, including photographers, florists, caterers, musicians, entertainment providers, beauty experts and event professionals.

Yes. Many of our couples plan their destination wedding from abroad. We support virtual meetings, planning coordination and vendor communication to make the process simple and stress-free. We use "Planpage" to make the planning process fun and easy - even through different time zones.

Can we have an outdoor ceremony?
Yes. Casa do Adro offers beautiful outdoor spaces that can be adapted for ceremonies, receptions and cocktail hours depending on your preferences and weather conditions. We have old and mystical gardens for smaller ceremonies and the 13th century church square, under old trees and with a stunning view over vineyards and olivetrees and the hills of the region.
Is Casa do Adro available for exclusive venue hire?
Yes. Couples always enjoy an exclusive wedding experience with privacy and dedicated use of the venue during their celebration.
What is included in wedding venue hire?
Wedding packages can vary, but usually include:
- exclusive venue access until midnight or 2 AM
- planning support (partial- or full wedding planning)
- recommended vendors
- event coordination
- coordination of logistics (Hotel bookings/room blocks, airport transfers, venue shuttles)
- dressing suites with a snack buffet for the morning of the wedding
- emergency kits for the day
- basic decor (based on availability, fairylights, shade options, fabrics, ceremony arches...)
- chairs, tables, lounge furnitures
- basic tableclothes, cuttlery etc. are included in our catering packages
- decor options for seating charts, welcome signs (golden antique frames and a lot more)
- historical dance area (in the old stables)
- Ordering smaller decor or stationery from abroad? Send it to us from an EU Shop and we store it safely for you until the wedding day.

What is NOT included in wedding venue hire?
- individual wishes for chairs, tables or table decor must be rented
- Ceremony: Carpet and real flowers are not included
- Wedding Design: Although we are a very crafty and creative team, for bigger ideas and design concepts, we require a professional wedding designer
What is the best time of year for a wedding in Portugal?
Portugal offers weddings throughout the year. Spring and autumn are especially popular for mild weather, while summer offers long evenings and outdoor celebrations.
Our personal recommendation: middle/end of may, early june and all september.
How many days should guests stay for a destination wedding?
Most destination wedding couples choose a 2–4 day celebration, giving guests time to enjoy the wedding and explore central Portugal.
Depends on how far you travel and how many guests will travel with you, we suggest to stay for 3 nights, to be able to arrive relaxed, enjoy the wedding day and have enough time the day after to see Portugal and fade out your wedding with your family and friends after the wedding.

Are you open all year?
Casa do Adro is a small, family owned wedding venue in Portugal. Our venue and gardens work best with good weather, therefore we only host weddings each year from april-october.
How far in advance should we book our wedding date?
We recommend to book the wedding venue and all key vendors about 12 months before the wedding date.
Do you offer venue visits before booking?
You are always welcome to schedule a venue tour with us! We will wait for you with coffee and fresh pastries from our local bakery.
Is there a minimum or maximum guest count?
No Minimum

Is airport transfer available for wedding guests?
Yes! We take care of it, together with our shuttle partner. Don't worry
Can we organise a welcome dinner or farewell brunch?
of course! You can do it at Casa do Adro, at our local vineyard or at your hotel. We have plenty of options!
Is there an indoor backup option for rain?
of course!
Are fireworks or special entertainment allowed?
Fireworks: no
Due to the historic area and wild fires risks, specially in the summer months, fireworks can't be part of the wedding.
We allow cold sparkles.
Can we choose our own caterer?
Yes! It was one our first goals, to provide our couples the food and experience that really matches with their interest - and as well - their budgets. You can chose from one of our partners or are free to bring the caterer of your choice.
Is there an open bar option?
Yes!
Can we bring our own wedding planner?
No Problem!
Do you work with English-speaking vendors?
Yes and no.
The vendors, who need to communicate with you (Photographers, Make Up Artist...) they speak english.
Is Casa do Adro suitable for sunset wedding photography?
It is amazing!!!
Is the venue wheelchair accessible?
Our Venue is 270 years old and unfortunately, at that time, wheelchair friendly architecture was not a thing. We have a lot of old, stony stairs around the venue and do not recommend to host weddings with people, who are in wheelchairs. Sorry :(
